We live in the greatest country on planet Earth. There has never been another like the United States of America. We are unique in many ways.
The world has longed to be part of the American dream. They have come from all over the world to be a part of our great nation. Some spent their last dime. Some left family behind. Still they come. Why?
It is the land of opportunity. It is the land of liberty. It is a blessed land.
But as great as it is or as great as it has been, the problems are many and growing. The quality of our education has dropped. Our economy has sputtered. Many nations, although they want what we have, hate us. We are a target for terrorists and Islam wants to destroy us. They call us the great Satan. But our greatest enemy is not some foreign sword waving army. Our greatest enemy is not from without but from within.
Our great nation is built on Judeo-Christian principles taken from the Word of God and God has blessed us abundantly. Our crumbling really began in a 1947 court case Everson vs. Board of Education. Thus began the removal of Christianity from government. Soon to follow was the removal of prayer from the classroom followed by the removal of the Bible and then the Ten Commandments.
Our forefathers sought God and God answered them by giving us a system based on ethics set forth in the Word of God. Our nation has turned its back on God and His Word. President Ronald Reagan said “we poison our society when we remove its theological underpinnings.”
So what is our greatest enemy? It is the secularism that has replaced God in our society. Everywhere we can see the decline. Overflowing prisons. Evil men waxing worse and worse. Sexual promiscuity. As a nation we have lost our way morally. We would like to blame Hollywood and they are by no means innocent but they only produce what will sell. Blame Washington.
Sure they are guilty, but we put them there. Any nation that forgets God will lose its way. We are no exception. Hosea 4:6 says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” When we forget, rebel against or fail to apply God’s Word, we are in trouble.
Maranatha!
