Perhaps, like me, you have heard people say from time to time that if they don’t know what the Bible says, God won’t hold them accountable. It may sound good, but is it true? Let’s examine some scriptures to see what the Bible says. Ac 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: I believe those times are past. God has given us multiple opportunities to learn and come to know who He is, who we are and that we need Him. The Bible says in Acts 17:30 that we are accountable for our actions.
Ho 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
That is a strong statement. If we lack knowledge of who God is and what He may require of us God says we will perish. Since God calls it rejection on our part then He must have given us opportunity to acquire knowledge that would keep us from perishing. We make the choice.
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. God has set before us His Word. The truth. He will help us to know what the truth is. It will make us free. But if you do not do what the Bible says and search the scriptures, meditate on the Word, study to show yourself approved and read what the Bible says, it will do you no good. A closed Bible sitting on a coffee table covered with dust will do you no good. You can be thirsty and have before you a glass of cold water but if you do not partake and drink of it, you will go away thirsty. God will not impose Himself on you but stands ready to receive you if you turn to Him. Again, we make the choice.
Jesus Christ shed His blood on Calvary’s cross for your sin. If you come to Him, that blood will cleanse you of sin. That is the only cure. It is through the blood. You don’t have to understand it but if you reject it you will perish and spend eternity in Hell. We choose. God cast His vote when He sent Jesus to the cross. Satan cast his vote by doing all he can to cause you to doubt and walk in fear. There is one vote remaining that determines the outcome. Yours. You choose! God loves you.
