Heavenly Sunlight

James R. Paxton by James R. Paxton

Joh 1:5 “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

Wherever darkness has presented itself it largely controls what is happening.  Darkness prevents you from seeing.  Darkness excites the imagination and often causes fear or uncertainty.  However, when the light shines, darkness cannot withstand nor overpower it.  You can see the beam of a flashlight from  a great distance away.  The flame of a lit match can be seen many hundreds of yards away.  Darkness cannot prevail over light.

The Word of God is light.  The Bible is full of light.  Joh 1:5 “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” That darkness represents a closed heart or an ignorant mind.  The battles that go on in the halls of Congress serve as an excellent example.  Instead of  senators and congressmen coming together and looking for the best answer to serve our country they close their mind if the idea comes from across the aisle.  A chosen few in the leadership of Congress dictate to the lesser members how they should vote and often times it is a 100% vote for either the red side or the blue side.  Neither side is always right.  Neither side is always wrong.  It appears to me that many of the elected representatives have forgotten why they were sent to Washington.  They serve themselves instead of the people that voted for them and sent them there.  So sad.

The Bible tells us that the Word of God is spiritually discerned.  What does that mean?  1Co 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”  The New Testament was written to Christians (believers) and not to the world.  It is full of truths that the natural man just cannot comprehend.  Answers do not come in a single verse of Scripture.  Answers come as the prophet Isaiah declared:  Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:.  The natural man tries to reason it out instead of spiritual discernment.  Spiritual discernment only comes when we are born again and receive the Holy Spirit.  Then, our own spirits coming alive in Jesus Christ we begin the journey of coming to know the truth.  The natural man cannot comprehend why we should forgive someone who, in our mind, absolutely does not deserve to be forgiven.  They would rather just punch them out.  That is not God’s way nor His best for anyone.  The fullness of forgiveness is spiritually discerned in the Word of God.  It is not self-righteousness that is the victor but the victory comes through love.

Maranatha!
