We seem to be bombarded with hints, deals and plans for our dietary pleasures and needs. Join this, try that, check this out. Gain weight, lose weight, maintain weight, increase energy and this will help you sleep better.
Some are no doubt profitable and some are a rip-off. Pills, exercise equipment and dietary plans flood the airways and fill the mail boxes.
But what about your spiritual needs? What will cause your soul to prosper and give you peace, joy and good mental health? We don’t hear much about that. God wants you to have a life full of health and well being. Look at 3 John 2 “3Jo 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. That’s good news because it is telling us of God’s desire for us. What about John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” We see here that there is an enemy about that is intent on our destruction. The thief is the devil or Satan. But look at the latter part of that verse. Jesus came that we might not only live but have life more abundantly. Quite a contrast.
When we read the newspaper, magazines hear it on the radio or see it broadcast on our TV’s it isn’t hard to discern that the devil is working his works in the world. How do we overcome this flood of evil reports and bad news? No doubt many of these things are happening and we cannot deny it to be so.
If you have a fenced in yard that is good enough to keep a bear out of your yard: you don’t have to worry about the bear although he is still out there. Your fence will keep him out.
If you place a guard around your heart and soul with God’s Word, it will keep the evil that is all around you from getting into your mind. The danger is still out there but it is out there and not in you destroying your peace of mind and striking fear in your heart. God’s Word tells us that if we will read the Bible, search the Scriptures and meditate on the Word it will produce a wall of protection around us as we draw nigh to God and have fellowship with Him. Jesus is the answer and He is bigger than any problem you have or any disaster the world might bring your way. Perhaps Joshua said it best when he said Jos 24:15 “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” It’s up to you.
