Beloved, let us love one another for the love of God and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God for God is Love. 1 John 4:7-8. Because one is born of God he loves. If one does not love he does not know God. Isn’t this easy to understand?
1 John 4:20 states, If a man say I love God and hateth his brother he is a liar for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen how can he love God whom he hath not seen. This is plain isn’t it? It is certainly not difficult to understand if we really want to. 1 John 3:14 tells us, we know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
If the love of God has been produced in our heart through the new birth it will always be reflected by our love for others. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer and ye know that no murderer hath eternal abiding in him, 1 John 3:15. The evidence of the new birth is change holiness, victory and love. Are these evident in your born-again experience? If not you should re-examine your experience.
The Bible teaches us the evidence of becoming God’s child will manifest itself in our lives. The new birth produces change. The greatest evidence of the new birth is a changed life. The Bible says, Therefore if an man be in Christ he is a new creature old things are passed away behold all things are become new. 2 Cor. 5:17. The Bible says, he that covereth his sins shall not prosper but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13.
I suggest you read the seventh chapter of Joshua to see how God deals with those who attempt to cover their sins.
