“For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers. But with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Peter 1:18-19
How did the Passover signal the future? Jesus fulfilled the meaning of the Passover. The moment John the Baptist saw Jesus he exclaimed Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world? John 1:29. Jesus was God’s male lamb without blemish or spot. Even Pilate cried out I find no fault in him. John 19:6. And just as the Passover lamb was put on public display Jesus stood before Israel in the temple and was examined by the Pharisees. He was God’s finally offering to end the reign of sin and death over humanity. On the fourteenth day at the third hour, 9:00am, Israel’s high priest tied the male lamb to the altar for sacrifice. At that exact moment outside the city of Jerusalem Jesus the Lamb of God was nailed to the cross. For six hours both the lamb and Jesus awaited death. Finally at the ninth hour, 3:00pm, the high priest ascended to the altar in the temple and sacrificed the lamb. His words thundered out over the City walls of Jerusalem, It is finished! The lamb was enison without spot or blemish. The lamb was enison he would die not for his wrongs but for the sings of the nation of Israel. The price of mercy was paid at Calvary the price for sin. Silver and gold, rubies, diamonds, sapphires and pearls. All the gold in Fort Knox could not buy one soul the price of mercy and sin was the blood of the Lamb of God.
It takes the blood of Christ to pay the price for sin. One day when he returns the believer will be given a body like unto his own glorious body. You and I have a hope beyond the grave because our savior and Lord conquered death and came forth from the grave with a promise. Because I live ye shall also. John 14:19 god moves in mysterious ways. You cannot live wrong and die right.
