Some believe that God sits in the heavens and watches us with a giant fly swatter in His hand just hoping for an opportunity to swat us big time. Those that believe that live in a constant state of fear and dread. Is that the way God is? Does he really what to squash you like a bug? Absolutely not.
Consider that God created the earth as a place for us to dwell and created us in His image. God is love. Although man is prone to sin and sin cannot abide in the presence of God, God provided a way for us to escape from the tentacles of sin.
The Bible tells us that God is merciful. The Bible tells us that God has made available to us His Grace. God gave us His Word (the Bible) to show us how to overcome evil, resist temptation and be delivered from sin and from a sinful nature.
God sent His Son, Jesus, to show us how to live by the example of His own life and on top of that He taught us the principles of life and how to deal with the situations that would come our way.
Add to that what Jesus did at Calvary. On the cross He gave His life in order that we could be saved. On His back He bore 39 stripes that we could be healed. His blood cleanses us from all sin, if we will believe what the Bible says about Him.
Can you imagine (I cannot) how much love God has for us to send His only beloved Son to die in our place that we could live and one day be with Him in Heaven? Does all that sound like God wants to “get you” if you displease Him? I say it again. God is love. He is not trying to keep you out of Heaven but is trying to get you to Heaven. He has taken care of every detail except one. You must believe and ask Jesus into your heart to be saved.
God did His part. Jesus did His part. The Holy Spirit is doing His part. One part remains. Are you doing or have you done your part? If you are still breathing, it is not too late. Think you are not good enough? You are right. None of us are or were. It is by the love, mercy and grace of God. His love is bigger than your failures. His mercy goes far beyond your weaknesses. His grace exceeds your inabilities and the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin. He has done His part. Now, it’s your turn. If you are yet a sinner, ask Jesus to forgive you and come into your heart and He will. If you are saved, rejoice. Either way, God loves you. Joh 3:16-17 says:
“ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Whosoever includes you. Romans 10:9-10 tells us “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Well?
Maranatha!
