God had a plan. He wanted a family so He created man in His own image. It was God’s intention that man would have dominion on the earth and live forever. So, not only did God create man; He created him in His own image. Man was created a spirit who was given a body and a soul or mind. But God who is eternal and knows all, saw that man would not long have the dominion God wanted him to have. Satan would come against man (Eve and Adam) with a lie of deception and Adam and Eve would believe the devil (Satan) and disobey God, falling from his place God had intended for him.
Man, separated from God was still a spirit and as such would exist forever. Because of the fall (disobedience to God) his body would grow old and die but he (spirit and soul) would live forever. Where would he live? Man would either live in Heaven with God or else he would forever be damned to hell.
His treachery was in his blood. Through that blood it would be passed down to every man alive. Man was doomed.
However, God loved man and His love was so great that He sent His beloved Son, Jesus to become the perfect sacrifice for sin and die in place of man. Jesus became sin and bore that sin on Calvary’s cross giving His life that man could be reconciled to God and spared eternal damnation in hell.
All man had to do was believe that Jesus died for him and was raised the third day from death and lives again, overcoming the hold of death and defeating the devil. It was simple and the power of the blood of Jesus so powerful that all could be saved. However, God did not want robots or clones but love flowing both ways. Man loving God and God loving man. So, God gave man the choice of who he would serve. Perhaps Joshua said it best. Joshua 24:15 ¶ And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Every sinner has to accept who he is. He is lost. He cannot save himself. His only hope is in Jesus. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If you believe and accept Jesus into your heart, repenting of your sin, He will come. It is your choice. Today is the day of salvation (2 Ch. 6:2). Don’t put it off. Soon, there will be no choice because Jesus is coming soon. Be ready!
