“I know thy works that thou art neither cold nor hot. I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm and neither cold nor hot I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16.
The Laodicea Church was neither cold nor hot, but lukewarm, and Jesus was on the outside knocking and wanting to come in. Jesus said in the last days most people’s love will grow cold. “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax or grow cold.” Matt. 24:12. Compromise is the greatest tool the devil has today in his war against the church. the cry of the world is, it must be alright if everybody is doing it. How sad it is to see individuals and churches compromising with sin. “God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24. Oh yes, they’re still going through the motions of worship, but the fire, the spirit, power, and excitement is gone. Don’t be a part of that cooling trend. Why? Because of compromising with sin. God wants the best for you, but you have to play by the rules. Don’t be a part of that cooling trend. Many Christians today seem to laugh and joke and take a light view of sin and compromise with sin. However, you may be sure that sin is a serious matter with God. The Bible calls sin a mystery. Perhaps the reason for this is that sin manifest itself in so many ways. All the sorrow, the grief, the violence, disgrace, heartache, and shame of man’s history can be summed up in one little word: sin. It is timeless truth that God hates sin and is unwilling to compromise with it. God wants us to have a pure heart, not hypocritical outward shows of piety. Dig in the scriptures to find truth you will say, like the two disciples who walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus, were not out hearts burning within us while He was explaining the scriptures to us? Luke 24:32. The word of God will set your heart ablaze. Don’t be a part of that cooling trend. Nothing puts out the flame of God’s love faster than bitterness. Don’t allow unforgiveableness to freeze your soul. Guard your heart and deal with offenses quickly. But make sure you are in a church that is on fire for God- because a dead church could put out what is left of your fire. Paul told Thessalonians, “Do not quench the spirit.” 1 Thess. 5:19.
You cannot live wrong and die right.
