As we look around us we can plainly see a world in crisis. Famines, terrorism, overwhelming debt, drugs, broken homes and the list keeps growing. We hear of wars, global warming, and the airways are filled with self-righteous, arrogant self –centered mud slinging politics. It seems that every political party is more concerned about attacking their opponents than they are about attacking the problems.
In Washington we see a huge vacuum. It is a pitiful lack of leadership. Flag waving speeches are common but the flags of morality, integrity, character and unity are neatly folded and put away.
If you read your Bible you are surely aware that the coming of Jesus Christ is very close at hand. Most Christians, it seems, are merely waiting for that return. However, until Jesus comes the Church, (believers), are told to fight the good fight of faith. A good fight is one where you win.
It is time to pray and not just pray the problem, but pray the Word of God. It is time for the Church, the body of Christ, to demonstrate who she is. It is time for the Church to lay aside politics and address the issues. Our constitution is being trampled under foot by our elected officials. Its principles are being undermined by power grabbing politicians. I sincerely believe God inspired the democratic government we are blessed with. John Adams, our second president said that our type of government could only prosper and endure when it was honored by people of high moral standards.
Abraham Lincoln said that it would not be any foreign nation that would ever defeat us but if we were ever defeated it would be from inside.
As a nation, we have strayed from our very foundation stones. Our Constitution and the Holy Bible are what made America great. Now, they are being shunned, ignored and banned. Turning our back on God spells disaster. We have a national debt that is astronomical. We have a great military that is lacking in leadership and support. We have welfare roles that are choking the life out of us. In 1953, shortly after the enormous cost of World War 2 we were debt free, enjoying liberty, driven by a robust economy and looking at a wonderful future. What happened? We lost our way in the courts. Slowly our congress became obsessed with power grabbing and being re-elected. Even the White House has been infected with this terrible disease. It is more concerned with a legacy than with national security and national well being. Certainly, IT IS TIME TO PRAY.
If we, as a nation do not turn back to God, we will perish. Forget denominations, political affiliations and personal ambitions. PRAY!
Maranatha!
