VERNON  LEE  MAYNOR,  93 years of age of Mt. Nebo died Tuesday February 11,2025 in the Bowers Hospice House at Beckley. He was the son of the late Homer Fairbanks and Annie Elmo Miller Maynor and was born at Sandlick July 8,1931. Vernon was retired from C&P telephone company and served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Lizemores Nazarene Church, the Lions Club and was a former Boy Scout Leader.

 

He was also preceded in death by one son Steven Lee Maynor and brother Wayne Maynor.

Daughters

Alicia Ann Griffin Wichita Falls, Texas

Mary Elizabeth Whiteley Mt. Lookout

Kara Lynn Harper

Brooklyn Zoey Hart both of Oak Island, North Carolina

Erma Jean Cook Beckley

Virginia Owen

Bonnie Lester both of Suffolk, Virginia

 

Several Grandchildren, Great and Great-Great Grandchildren

 

Funeral services were conducted at noon on Saturday February 15th in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville with Pastor John Bill Brown and Pastor Wayne Litton. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Sunset Cemetery at Bickmore. Friends called at the funeral chapel one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

 

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
