Lizemores — Vera Lee (Ramsey) Vance, 74, of Lizemores, entered into rest Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at her home surround by family. She had a larger than life personality and trademark stubbornness that will not be forgotten. She had an overabundance of charisma, charm and feistiness, always told you the truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. Vera was generous to a fault and yet she sugar coated absolutely nothing. She had a love for gardening and a passion for rock hunting and scavenging for treasures.
Born January 26, 1942, in Wheeling, she was the daughter of the late Watson and Mary (Griffin) Ramsey.
Vera is survived by her sons, Paul Holcomb of Indore, Michael Holcomb of Lizemores, Dana Holcomb of Big Otter and Jonathan Holcomb of Indore; daughters, Carol Jarvis of Bickmore and Victoria Vance Brown of Lizemores; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Ramsey of Bickmore and William Ramsey of Indore; sisters, Hazel Stewart of Bickmore, Bertha Stewart of Craigsville and Sarah Taylor of Clendenin.
Graveside service were held 1:30 P.M. Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Vera Vance Family Cemetery, Lizemores, with Minister Dean Rogers officiating.
Vera will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family, friends and neighbors.
