Ivydale — Shirley “Shirl” Lee Burnside, 84 of Ivydale entered into rest on March 17, 2017.
He was born in Hallsburg, Clay County, WV, to the late Willie and Jessie Burnside.
He was a well known, self-employed business man. He enjoyed hunting. He was an avid pool player and a teacher to many. He served on the board of directors for numerous years at the Big Otter Community Center. His passion was the love and playing bluegrass music, in which he played all over the county and state, including the annual Vandalia Gathering.
He was preceded in death by sister Opal Rogers, of Duck; and brother Harrison Burnside of Spencer.
He is survived by his children Linda (Jim) Goslin, Rickey (Debbie) Burnside, Randall (Lynn) Burnside, all of Ohio, Pamela Bohn of Florida and Bridget (Dana) Holcomb of Ivydale; seven grandchildren-Mark and Jamie Vaughan, Shanna Dew, Crystal Paul, Michelle Duncan, Justin Burnside, and Emilea Holcomb; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Nebo Baptist Church, Nebo WV, with minister Dewey Tanner officiating. Burial will be in The Nebo Baptist Cemetery, Nebo, WV.
