Rev. James A. Duffield

Ivydale — Rev. James A. Duffield, 85, of Ivydale, passed away March 6, 2017, at Clay Health Care Center, Big Otter.

He was born March 8, 1931, in Clay County, a son of the late William Curtis and Sarah Belle Duffield.

He was a pastor serving in Clay County for many years, an Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post #33.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris Ann Ashley Duffield, whom he married April 18, 1961; daughter, Susie Plantin of South Carolina; grandchildren, Abbye, Micah, Ryan, Neal and Elizabeth; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Joe Smarr and wife, Lavonne ”George” of Gassaway, and Eddie Smarr and wife, Donna of Canvas.

Service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Engel Chapel Community Church, Gassaway, with the Rev. Doug Burdette officiating. Burial with military rites followed in the Moore Fork Cemetery, Big Otter.

Visitation was two hours prior to service at the church.
