Mattie Lou Friend
Lawrenceburg, IN – Mattie Lou Friend, 86, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. She was born February 13, 1929 in Helton, North Carolina, daughter of the late Joseph and Mamie (Testerman) Sullins.
Mattie was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church and the Women’s Association; enjoyed crotchet; loved Rod Stewart; was an avid reader, drove a Gran Torino; and was always up on current events. She worked as a Supervisor at Newberry’s.
She is survived by her son, Gary Friend of Lawrenceburg, IN; 2 daughters, Martha (Ray) Kersey of Lawrenceburg, IN, Mary (Dan) Peeno of Burlington, KY; 3 brothers, Frank Sullins, William Sullins, Gene Sullins; sister, LeeCola Fain; 12 grandchildren, Missy, Mindy, Jay (Michele), Kenny, Mia, Joey, Dale, Ernie, Jerry, Darris, Josh (Nina), Bre’Anna; and 4 great grandchildren, Mayzie, Maddy, Jackson, and Ashton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mamie Sullins; husband, Darris Friend; and step son, Dale Ellis Friend.
Family and friends were received on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 10am to 12pm at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 12pm.
Interment followed in the Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
