Alum Creek-Mary Maxine Butler Anderson of Alum Creek, formerly of Big Otter, Clay County, WV.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8
Our mother went to sleep in Jesus at the Hospice House West Tuesday, May 2, 2017. She was a loving mother, friend, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was 90 on Apr. 14, and was able to celebrate her birthday with several friends and family. She was born Apr. 14, 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lesley Anderson, and four brothers, Hubert, Nathan, Woodrow and Marion; and six sisters, Millie, Euna, Joann, Violet, Dora and Essie.
One of her passions in life other than serving Christ was doing Genealogy. She was the family historian and loved talking about her family and proud to say she had done it for 50 years.
She is survived by her son, Harry Wayne (Joyce) of Duck and her daughter, Millie Ann (Millard) of South Charleston. She has four grandchildren, Nutusha (Todd) of Tallmadge, Ohio, Sam of Alum Creek, Rebecca (Monty) of Smyrna, TN and Shelby (Holli) of South Carolina; ten great-grandchildren, Shoshana, Jeremiah, T.J, Travis, Mason, Nathan Lee, Aaron, Nathan Thomas, Morgan and Nicholas; two beautiful great-great-granddaughters, Adrianna and Hannah. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Robinson of South Charleston and Emaline Shaw of Grove City, PA.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to the Hospice Staff for their care of Mother and support to the family.
Her service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, where Rev. Dwight Priestly and Rev. Roe Smith officiated. Burial was in the Orma Methodist Church Cemetery, Orma, WV.
