Lester Allen Stephenson

Summersville – Lester Allen Stephenson of Summersville and Elkton, MD, 66, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018. He was born in Elkton, MD on Nov. 4, 1951, to the late Martin Stephenson and Alice (Adkins) Stephenson.

Lester spent his career as a coal miner and certified shot-firer. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and of Trout Unlimited, and would help with stocking fish in freshwater streams. Lester enjoyed most camping, fishing, hunting and supporting local politics. He could often be found playing slot machines. Lester found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and friends.

Lester is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy (Reeves) Stephenson of Summersville and Elkton, MD; two brothers: Teddy Stephenson and his wife, Fay of Indore, and Jesse Stephenson and his wife, Mitzi of Clay; sister, Anita Stephenson of Grantsville; three nephews: Dave Stephenson of Dunbar, Nathaniel Stephenson of Indore, and Samuel Stephenson of Grantsville; three nieces: Kelsey Stephenson of Elkton, MD, Kayla Stephenson and Hannah Stephenson both of Grantsville; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews by marriage.

In addition to his parents, Lester is preceded in death by his brother, Samuel “Sammy” Stephenson and sister, Elaine Shull.

A graveside committal service will be held for Lester at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, at Union Cemetery, Elkton, MD. To send online condolences, please visit www.rtfoard.com.
