Larry Maynard Nichols, 76, of Servia, passed away February 5, 2018 at home.
He was born August 24, 1941 at Lizemore, WV, a son of the late Maynard and Jewel Mae Nichols.
Larry was a coal miner, a factory worker in North Carolina and ended his coal mining career working as a security guard for Fola Coal Company. He was a member of the Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church, Duck, where he also served as a Sunday schoolteacher. He enjoyed working on cars, NASCAR and bird watching. He was a member of Gassaway Masonic Lodge #133. He was an Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper in the 17th Cav 82nd Airborne Division and a member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Nowlin Nichols; son, Randy Nichols of Servia; daughter, Teresa (Don) Dean of Columbia, SC; granddaughters, Jennifer (Shawn) Walker of Columbia, SC and Amanda Dean of Columbia, SC; great grandsons, Aiden and Greyson Walker; brothers, Lance (Sharon) Nichols of Whiting, IN and Steve Nichols of Page.
He was preceded in death by brother, Randy Nichols and sister, Beverly Wolfe.
A service was held Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church, Duck with Pastor JR Mullins officiating. Interment with military rites followed in the Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
