Ravenna — Hattie G. Justice, 97, of Ravenna died Saturday, March 18, 2017. She was born October 13, 1919 in Calhoun County, WV, to Romey R. and Ada (Rose) West.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Guy Justice in 1990; sisters Ruby Drake and Fanny Moore; and brothers Calvin, Bernard and Cleabert West.
Hattie was a member of Maplewood Christian Church and had worked for Cleveland Worsted Mills, was the secretary and the first woman deputy in Portage County for Sheriff Robert E. Stockdale from 1954 to 1958. She had also worked more than 25 years for the Record Courier, retiring in 1983. Hattie volunteered with Mobile Meals, Christian Cupboard and the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her son Daniel (Beverly) Justice of Littleton, CO; granddaughters Danielle of Colorado and Dena of California; and a sister Vera (Bill) Hannum of Thompson, OH.
A celebration of her life will took place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Maplewood Christian Church, 7300 State Route 88, Ravenna, Ohio, with Rev. Ken Warren and Bill Thomas officiating. Private burial has taken place at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Maplewood Christian Church, 7300 State Route 88, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
