Harland (Doc) Walls, 83, of Widen, passed away at his home after a battle with lung cancer on Monday, April 24, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends.
Born March 6, 1934, in Ovapa, he was the son of the late Lon Ames Walls and Freda Mae (Butcher). In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Ann Walls.
He was a truck driver and retired from U-Save propane and a Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Harland is survived by his loving companion of 14 years Sarah Jackson of Widen; daughters, Carol (James) Walton of Mt. Nebo, Kathrine (Rick) Walton of Mebane, N.C., and Pamela (Mike) Jones of Buchanan, GA; step-children, Fonda Hougland of N.Y., Kathy Hatches of S.C., Jay Sattler of TN., Kitty Long of N.C., Billy Sattler of S.C. Michael Jackson and Jimmy Jackson both of WV; sisters, Mary (Darrell) Schoolcraft of N.Y., Charlene Truman of OH, Shirley (Roland) Boggs of OH, Hazel (Roy) Parsons of WV, Jane (Jim) Parson; brothers, Roy (Connie) Walls Johnny Walls of Perry (Marilyn) Walls and Mickle Walls all of WV; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Above all things he loved and treasured his family.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Roland Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Phillip Cemetery, Ovapa, with Military Rites.
