It is with great sadness that the family of Dorma (Marvis) Sutton announces her passing, after a brief illness, on Saturday, December 1, 2018. She lived 88 beautiful years and will be remembered as a strong, independent woman and a friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Sutton and a sister, Betty Jarvis.

Marvis graduated from Clay County High School with the class of 1948 and regularly attended class reunions. After graduating from Glenville State College, she taught school in Clay County for eight years. She gave up her teaching career to be with her children, and later returned as a post mistress at the Tariff Post Office for over thirty years.

Marvis is survived by three children; two sons, Harry David (Brenda), Bobby (Rita) and daughter, Marilyn (RK) Taylor. She had five grandchildren, David and Robby Sutton, Melissa (Steve) Kershner, and Colter and Cassidy Taylor. She also had one great-granddaughter, Jailynn Kershner. Surviving siblings include two sisters, Glenna White of Charleston, South Carolina and Norma Shaffer of Inverness, Florida.

Marvis lived her life fully and selflessly. She was devoted to helping others and always had a beautiful smile. Her love and extreme devotion to her grandchildren was immense. She will forever be remembered for her kindness and love for others.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 7, at Wilson-Smith Funeral Home, Clay.  Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wallback.

Friends gathered with family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

On-line condolences may be sent to the family at www.carlwilsonfuneraalhome.com.

Wilson-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Sutton family.
