Donald Howard Connor, 67, of Sutton, went home to be with Jesus on March 26, 2018 after a short illness. Don was born December 23, 1950 in Widen, WV to the late Erma W. Hamrick Connor and Junior R. Connor.
Don and his wife Carolyn began traveling and singing and playing gospel music after they were married in 1973. This ministry continued throughout the years and “The Connors” as they were known, were still going strong and changing lives until he took his last peaceful breath, and his legacy will live on through this ministry for years to come. He was so devoted to traveling and ministering. He has driven thousands of miles, played the guitar beautifully, maintained sound equipment, and made sure Carolyn and Missy sounded as beautiful as possible. When not on the road or working for the Board of Education, Don loved to hunt and ride his 4-wheeler. He loved spending time with his family in the woods.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carolyn Connor, whom he lovingly referred to as “Babycakes”, daughter Missy Scarbro and husband Philip of Sutton, and granddaughter, Melissa Graham-Barker and husband Cory of Gassaway.
He also leaves behind five brothers and two sisters: James “Smokey” Connor and wife Kaaren of Sutton, WV, Shirley Salisbury and husband Bill of Sutton, WV, Ben Connor and wife Cathy of Sutton, WV, Jerry Connor of Huntington, WV, Patricia Given and husband Marty of Sutton, WV, John Connor and wife Dianne of Greenville, VA, and Gene Connor and wife Becky of Vienna, WV. Don also has many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews that love their uncle Don so very much.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Chuck Smith and Rev. Kenneth Truman officiating. Burial followed at Barnett Cemetery, Sutton. Friends called two hours before services at the funeral home.
