Bomont, WV – Dewey Edward Serls Sr. 81, of Bomont, WV passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in Falling Waters, WV with family by his side, after fighting cancer. He was the son of the late Hedrick and Audrey Serls. Born May 6, 1935 in Rocky Fork, WV and grew up in the Charleston, WV area. Dewey was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Serls (Hart) on July 16, 2014.
He was one of a kind and touched many lives. Dewey served in the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy, he became the Vice President of Larsen Products Corporation in Rockville, MD. Retiring after 30 years, Dewey and his wife, Patricia of 59 years, then returned to his wife’s home county of Clay to the house they built in Bomont, WV. There he was instrumental and involved in improving his community. Dewey loved farming, raising animals, working on anything and everything, and spending time together with friends and family.
Dewey was one of thirteen children. He was survived by two children, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren with one on the way, daughter, Aulda Serls of Falling Waters, WV, son, Dewey (Sonny) Serls Jr. and wife Gail, of Rockville, MD; granddaughters, April Keeney and husband Ross, of Falling Waters, WV, Tiffany Montgomery, of New Market, MD, LeeAnn and husband Chris Ginsburg, of Frederick, MD, Lorreen Serls, of Virginia Beach, VA; great grandchildren, Landon, Bradley, Ayden, and many nieces and nephews; sisters Betty Guthrie, Lorreen Teel, and Julia Miller. brothers Johnny, Carl, and Dayton Serls.
He chose for his body to be donated to science then cremated. No services will be provided at this time.
