Sheffield Lake, OH– Darius E. “Greenie” Greenleaf, age 85, of Sheffield Lake, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at his home.
He was born and raised in Gassaway, WV. Greenie worked for Local 425 at Ford Motor Co. in Lorain for 31 years, retiring in 1990. He was also a part-time patrolman for Sheffield Village for 17 years. Darius was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who served our country as a U. S. Marine during the Korean War. He was a top tier basketball player in high school and loved watching college basketball and football, especially the WV Mountaineers and the OSU Buckeyes. His favorite pastime was spending time with his friends and grandchildren.
Darius is survived by his daughter, Kathy Woljevach (Michael Adam) of Wakeman; grandchildren, Larry Greenleaf Jr. of Kentucky, Nicole Walden (Doug) of Loveland, OH, Michael Woljevach of Wakeman, Justin Woljevach of Sheffield Lake, and A.J. Greenleaf of Dallas, TX; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Evalina “Shorty” (nee Truman); son, Larry Greenleaf, Sr.; grandson, Gary Fitzpatrick; and siblings, Russell, Donald, Floatie, Ronald, Arlene, Gladys “Della,” and Forest “Pete.”
The family will receive friends at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Rd., Sheffield Tnsp. on Friday, Oct. 28, from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. followed by the interment at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
