Chilton E. “Eddie” Sparks

Chilton E. “Eddie” Sparks, 81, of Twenty-Mile in Belva, entered into rest Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Glasgow Health and Rehabilitation Center, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chilton “Ode” and Ruth Sparks; niece, Debbie Sparks; and nephew, Rick Hughes.

Eddie was a life-long resident of the Nicholas County area.  He was a Christian man and was retired from Perry & Hilton Coal Company.

Survivors are his four daughters, Christine Sparks of Belle, Ellen Sparks of Boomer, Edwina (Gerald) Flare of Swiss, and Sarah Jo Sparks of Boomer; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jeremy Gray (Erin, Zachary and Sophie) of Wando, SC, Melinda Hanshaw (Cameron, Kenneth and Isaac) of Belle, Josh Flare (Kim) of Summersville and Jessica Lanham (JD, Brandon, Jordon and Khloe) of Belle Creek; brother, Donald (Avis) Sparks  of Cyclone and sister, Lenore Hughes of Diamond; several nieces and nephews

A graveside service was held Sunday, April 29, at Montgomery Memorial Park, London, with Reverend Gaylord Taylor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Eddie requested that donations be made in his name to the Nicholas County Animal Shelter, 229 Stadium Drive, Summersville, WV 26651.
