Carmel Ray Tanner, 81, of Nebo, WV, went to heaven praising the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
He was born April 15, 1943, at Nebo, the son of the late Andy Tanner and Gertrude Dawson Tanner Ramsey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dewey Tanner, Russ Tanner and Dana “Ponch” Tanner.
Carmel was a retired pipeliner, having worked many years for Houchin’s, Arnoldsburg, W.Va. He was a Christian and attended the Nebo Baptist Church, Nebo.
His pastimes included playing and singing blue grass music, spending time with his family, especially his great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Deloris J. Suttle Tanner; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ramie Bennett of Mill Creek, W.Va.; granddaughter and her husband, Autumn and Scott Faulkner of Nebo; great grandchildren, Tanner Faulkner and his girlfriend, Chloe Jones, Spencer Faulkner and Harper Faulkner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Gene Copen of Nebo, and Wanda and Walter Watkins of Walker, W.Va.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 30 at noon at the Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery, Nebo, with the Rev. Lester Tanner officiating.
There will be no visitation.
