Auddis “Bum” Gray, 84, of Clay, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018.
Born August 19, 1933 in Swandale, he was the son, of the late Shannon and Marie Gray. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Wanita Gray.
Auddis worked for the Hoop and Holler Phone Company, owned by Murry Smith, and later retired from Contel Phone Company after 33 years of service. He loved his camp in Lilly, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and going to summer and fall festivals and meeting people. Auddis also loved WVU football and basketball, loved being a Mountaineer and his Mt. Dew.
Auddis is survived by his son, Michael (Mary) Gray of VA; grandchildren, Michael W. (Cassie) Gray Jr. of WV, Sabrina (Jason) Taylor of OH, Christopher (Linnea) Ball of GA, Michael (Kristina) Ball of WV, Melanie Nisbett of NC; several great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Thursday, July 12, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Dennis Legg officiating. Burial followed in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay.
