Bob Dawson
Old Bob Dawson was walkin’ along,
just chewin’and spittin’and hummin’ old songs.
And us boys knew Old Bob couldn’t hear,
so we snuck up behind him and screamed in his ear.
And we peed in our pants in the Sycamore sand,
When Bob turned around with a knife in his hand,
You little scoundrels… I oughtta kill ya,
Let me think a minute, yep I think I will.
Wait til I sharpen my old hawkbill.
No wait jest a second… better yet still,
I think by God I’ll jest tell Bill,
And that’s when we knew we’d done been had,
because Bob was Bill’s friend and Bill was our dad.
Then Old Bob turned and took another chew
and we hollered “ sorry we didn’t know it was you.”
And Old Bob just grinned and moved on along,
Chawin’ and Spittin’and Hummin’Old songs.
