½ cup butter, melted
½ cup butter
1 cup plus 2 tsp sugar, divided
½ cup milk, room temperature
1 cup water
2 cups blackberries
1 ½ cup self-rising flour
½ cup cinnamon
Place melted butter in a 9×9 inch baking dish. In a sauce pan heat sugar and water until sugar dissolves, set aside. In a separate bowl cut the flour and butter together until coarse crumbs form, add milk and stir until dough leaves sides of bowl, roll out into a rectangle. Spread dough with berries, sprinkle with cinnamon and roll up jelly roll-style. Cut into 1½ inch slices.
Place in a pan on top of melted butter, pour the sugar water over all and bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining sugar, return to oven for 15 additional minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
