Elkview, WV – Larry Robert Miller, 73, of Elkview, died peacefully at home on March 22, 2016.
Born on August 16, 1942 in Sutton, he was the son of the late Burlien C. and Lucille A. Miller.
He graduated from Gassaway High School in 1960. Larry served our country in the United States Army, and was a Vietnam veteran.
Larry was employed by The Kroger Company for several years. He spent the majority of his career working in the oil and gas industry, and retired from Columbia Natural Resources in 2000. After retiring, Larry remained a well-respected figure in the oil and gas industry, working as an independent consultant until 2013. Larry was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Clendenin Lodge No. 126, a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In his spare time, Larry enjoyed RV traveling and motorcycling with his wife, Martha, and many friends. He was a NASCAR fan, and looked forward to his annual trips to Bristol with his son, L.R., and their friends. Larry’s joy was complete upon the birth of his three grandchildren, and he cherished his visits with them like nothing else.
Larry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Martha K. Miller; children, Larry Robert Miller II, of Charleston, and Carol Janai Miller Jansons, of Newburgh, IN; brother, Ronald B. Miller and his wife, Marlene, of Wooster, OH; sister, Carol R. Miller and her husband, Roger, of Zanesville, OH; son-in-law, Aleksandrs Jansons; grandchildren, Andrejs, Vija, and Maris Jansons; many nieces and nephews; and many friends whom he loved like family.
Funeral service was Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay. Burial was in the Smith Cemetery, Uler, WV.
