The AC 1 class at Clay High has been experimenting with lasers and how to get things to work using lasers. The class is made up of freshman and one senior. The class was split into groups and each group had a different experiment to work with. The group that I am going to be speaking about today is the group that used a laser to activate a camera to survey all animals that visited a one acre pond. Luke Burnette and Mike Willis were in this group and their projects end result was ‘How to make a laser perimeter to tell what kind of animals go in and out of the lake to drink. Quickly, they realized that one camera was not going to be able to regulate such a large area. They were able to successfully get to their end result for the project. They also realized that their problem during their experiments were the bread board and how the circuitry would work. They figured they have to have a plan in place before starting any project to know what to do – a blueprint so to say. Mr. Geff Hamrick gave the students information that helped them understand better how to get their projects in motion. The students seemed to like their experiments and learned a lot on open, closed circuits and AC/DC power, etc.
