Williamstown, KY – Okey Darrel Shamblin, age 81, passed away on March 2, 2016 at his home in Williamstown, KY after a long battle with cancer.
Born July 28, 1934 at Elkhurst, WV. He was one of eleven children of William A (Bill) and Sarah (Lyons) Shamblin.
Okey was a Korean War Veteran. As a certified welder he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. For many years he was an owner, operator, truck driver. After retirement Okey moved to Kentucky and bought a farm. He was a member of the Free & Accepted Mason’s #777 Harrodsurg, Ky. and Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union Local #430.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Virgil, Delmar, Perry Shamblin; three sisters: Ruby Jamison, Jesse Thompson, Sylvia Isaacs.
Surviving are his ex-wife, Jean (French) Shamblin, a daughter, Tina (Brian) Bradshaw, one grandson, Tyler Rhoades, of OK; two brothers Junior Shamblin of Glasgow, Ky, Roscoe (Carol) Shamblin of Girard, OH; two sisters: Clarice Parsons of Hubbard, OH, Shirley (James) King Ovapa, W.V.
