Joh 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. Jesus is speaking and for each of us He is issuing a challenge. He didn’t say to pray that your heart not become troubled. He said it is your heart and it is under your control. He was not speaking about the muscle beating in your chest. He is speaking of the inner man. He is telling us to be extremely careful what we permit into our hearts.
If you know truth, you are not susceptible to a lie. If you know truth, you will not be deceived. The devil, Satan, is constantly trying to make you believe that you are destined to be the victim. He is trying to cause you to live in fear and dread tomorrow. He wants you to believe things are hopeless and there is nothing you can do about it. He wants you to think you are at his mercy. He will try to make you afraid of a shadow.
Jesus said for you to resist the thoughts that would cause you to be troubled. If you are a child of God, you have authority. Just because someone said something doesn’t make it true. You would be wise to see what the Holy Bible has to say about it. Does the Bible speak of sickness and disease? What does it say? Does the Bible speak of demons? What does it say?
Does the Bible speak of judgment? What does it say? What does the Bible say about sin? You need to know. How can you find out? Read the Bible and believe what it says. Find yourself a church that teaches and preaches and lives by the Word of God. Pray and ask God about it.
Jesus would not tell us to not let our hearts be troubled if we couldn’t do what He said. He is not trying to condemn us but to help us. It’s much easier to worry than it is to resist the temptation. It’s easier to fear that it is to stand against the intimidation. It’s easier to be ignorant that it is to gain the knowledge it takes to overcome it.
Jesus gave you and me the authority and responsibility to determine what goes into our heart. Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. It doesn’t say once you have read the truth you will be free. It says that when you come to KNOW the truth, that truth will make you free. The more truth you know, the more free you will become. The truth of God’s Word sets before us the truth’s that that will shed light on our paths so that we may not walk in the darkness of ignorance. God’s Word declares in Ho 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Protect your heart. Pr 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. It’s your peace of mind and your life. It’s your future.
