The CCMS Mustangs opened up their baseball season on the road going up against a tough George Washington Middle School in Putnam County. Gabe Young took to the mound to begin the showdown, and the heat started flying. The Mustangs were on the board first when Grant Krajeski base knocked a single and was driven in by Gabe Young who tagged a double into left field. It was all tied up at two in the third after a couple of mistakes limited the Mustangs. The game was also all tied up at the end of regulation play and went to extra innings. In the eighth inning, Gabe Young took on the throwing arms of GW Middle. After getting on first base by a walk, he decided it was time to take matters in his own hands and stole two bases, making it to third. From there, Young was driven in with a sacrifice fly by Caleb Burdette. This game was a good season opener for the Mustangs. Now with the nerves in check, it was time to get the season rolling. The next game came Friday night as the Mustangs took on Sherman Middle School. This time the bats heated up for the Mustangs – in the first inning they scored five runs on three hits before being retired. Caleb Burdette took charge of the hill and brought the juice. When the smoke cleared, the Mustang’s short gamed visiting Sherman Middle School by the score of 11-1. Baseball is a game full of bursts of action and intense, edgy moments. If you want to see this for yourself, get to one of the Mustang’s baseball games; they have already kicked some butt, and the season has just begun.
