The Elk Conservation District invites all school age children to participate in a national conservation poster contest sponsored by the Nation Association of Conservation Districts. Anyone child who wishes to participate may do so. All posters must be received by April 15th. Each child that enters will receive a prize. Winners will receive t-shirts.
Theme for 2016 is “We All Need Trees”
• Dependence of humans and other animals on trees and forests.
• Items used daily that are a product of trees.
• Relationship between factors necessary to support life on Earth and trees.
• Forest management to healthy habitats, improved water quality and biodiversity.
• The role of urban forests in cities.
The judging will be based on the entry’s conservation message, visual effectiveness, originality and universal appeal. All posters created by kindergarten through twelfth graders will be entered in local competition and will be considered.
Grade categories: K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Poster size for K-6 is half sheet or 14” x 22”. Poster size for 7-12 is full sheet or 22” x 28”.
The 2016 Stewardship title “We All Need Trees” must be on the front of the poster. No other title is to be used.
Any media may be used to create a flat or two dimensional effect (paint, crayon, colored pencil, charcoal, paper or other materials). Back of each poster MUST have student’s name, grade level, teacher’s name and school. Entries must be submitted to the Elk Conservation District no later than April 15, 2016 to be eligible.
