Clay Town Council Receives Dwana Murphy’s Resignation

The town council meeting for February was on Tuesday evening February 2. Council member Jerry Stover couldn’t be in attendance, so with a motion made, 2nd and voted on, Jerry was approved to join in by phone.
The previous meeting minutes and bills to be paid were approved. To start the action items on the agenda, there is a dead tree at the end of town that needs to be removed. Black Diamond power has agreed to volunteer to assist the town and top the tree and the town employees will get rid of the debris. The tree is close to Black Diamond Power lines and if it fell it could cause problems and interrupt power service for their customers. To proceed with the meeting, Darrell Keener, who recently retired on December 31st, 2015, was approved to work a few days a month as needed as a contract and will be paid hourly.
There were updates on the Blue Knob project and the Water Plant project, it’s just a waiting game at this moment. Everything has been processed and properly completed, just waiting for the money to be given to proceed.
Previously, there was discussion about the town recorder position and an ordinance to be written up for Dwana Murphy to continue as town recorder even though she would be living slightly out of town limits. Many in the town disagreed and voiced their opinions. During the February meeting, Mrs. Murphy gave her resignation letter as town recorder. Dwana has been an employee at the water plant since 1994 and town recorder since 2000. The position is up for anyone who lives in town limits to apply for. If anyone is interest, and you live in town limits, contact the water plant for applying. The town council will decide on someone to fill the position at the March 1, 2016 meeting.
