Columbus, Indiana – Carl R. Sanders, 89, of Columbus, Indiana, died at 3:15 a.m. December 14, 2015, at Four Seasons Healthcare Center.
Born July 17, 1926, in Clay County, West Virginia, he was the son of Charles Roscoe and Clara Ester Jones Sanders. He married Jacqueline C. “Jackie” Dodd September 17, 1946.
Carl attended Clay County High School in West Virginia, served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II and retired from Arvin Industries in Columbus after 35 years of service.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 398 and Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
The funeral was conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th Street, Columbus, Indiana with the Rev. Dan Cash officiating. Entombment was at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

Survivors include his sons, Michael R. (Susan) Sanders of Carmel, Indiana, Richard C. (Katherine) Sanders of Indianapolis and Russell A. (Patricia) Sanders of Indianapolis; a brother, Donald Sanders of Conway, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tiffany Bruglia, Holly Minnis, Stacey Sanders and Russell “Chad” Sanders; stepgrandchildren, Rick Hubbard, Randall Hubbard, Robert Hubbard and James Zollner; great-grandchildren, Ethan Kuhn, Elizabeth Kuhn, Abigail Minnis, Blake Sanders and Reagan Sanders; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Gaberielle Allen, Alan Zollner, Bailey Hubbard, Gabriel Zollner and Aubrey Zollner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacqueline; a granddaughter, Julie Sanders; and a sister, Josephine Childers
