The Mustang wrestling team has seen some war on the floor over the years and with the new team and a new coach, this season will prove to be no less than great. The team has grown in experience, and the boys are winning some individual matches now. The wrestlers were at Elkview Middle school this past week and showed that the CCMS Middle School wrestling program is back and will be a power house this season. On Friday evening, the Mustangs took their game to the mat and as usual came out on top most of the time. Trey Sams took the individual Championship title while Blake Sontos took second in his weight class. The team took fifth place overall – pretty good considering they faced tough odds as many of the wrestlers were pitted against the best in the state at the Middle School level.
Win or lose, they pounded the so called best into the rubber letting other teams know they were there and they do not give pity or quarter and ask none in return. The Mustangs are gladiators looking for a stadium and are out to put Clay County on the map again in wrestling. Their next match will be at Spencer on Tuesday night at 6PM. You want to see some great action? Roll over to Spencer and you will get full of it.
