So it begins – the season for the Lady Panthers got under way by travelling to the Braxton County Armory to take on the Lady Eagles on December 1st.  The Lady Panthers were out to prove that they are still a basketball machine even after losing some of their powerhouse players from last year.   The JV team was up first, and one could tell these girls were out for blood.   The Lady Panther JV girls demolished the boards both on defense and offense with a final score of Lady Panthers JV 35, Lady Eagles JV 30.
Varsity’s turn on the court came, and the girls come out swinging and really ran the floor with some incredible defense and offense.  Sarah Boggs and Summer Alley both out-muscled the Lady Eagles under the board taking no quarter.  Emily Wynn was also tough in open court stealing the ball and upsetting their plays making the Lady Eagles defer from their game plan.  Hailey Ramsey came into the game with some hard hitting, in your face basketball.  Nothing needs to be said other than the Lady Panthers are full on and serious about basketball.  Sarah Boggs was the ace for the night going 9 for 10 from the charity line and adding 8 more from the field.  Summer Alley added a tough 8 points under the boards.
The girls played a really tough game, but it was the first game of the season and mistakes were made. A little greasing up the rust will help as the season progresses.    The Lady Panthers never let the Lady Eagles see them sweat and played full throttle basketball till the final buzzer.  When the smoke cleared, it was the Lady Panthers on top with a final score of 58-37.  No doubt the Lady Panthers will be working on their weaker moments this week in practice and will come out gunning against Nicholas County on Tuesday night.  So, if you get the chance, come out and support the girls on Tuesday.
