Current Version of GED Test to expire at end of 2013

GED testing center in Clay County encourage adults to finish and pass before test deadlines
The Clay Adult Learning Center wants to remind all potential test-takers that the current version of the GED test will expire at the end of 2013. The current version, known as the 2002 Series GED test, will be replaced with the new 2014 GED test on January 2, 2014.
Those who have taken the 2002 Series GED test, but have not passed all five parts, have until the end of 2013 to pass or they will need to start over again in 2014 with the new High School Equivalency Test in order to receive their high school credential.
“The GED test opens doors to college, better jobs, the respect adults deserve, and the satisfaction of earning a high school credential,” said Debra Kimbler, Chief GED Examiner of West Virginia. “So we want to be sure that everyone is aware of this deadline. GED test-takers must act now to finish and pass before the current test expires.”
“Support is available, right here in Clay County,” said Lisa Hamrick, Instructor at the Clay Adult Learning Center. “We can help adult learners get prepared to take the parts of the GED test they still need to pass. We want you to succeed!”

The Clay Adult Learning Center offers Official Practice Test (OPT) sessions every Friday at 9:00 am and potential test-takers must pass the OPT prior to taking the actual certification exam.
Test-takers must bring valid state identification (driver’s license, DMV photo ID card, or Passport). Potential test-takers under the age of 19 must have a waiver form signed by the last attending high school. The OPT takes approximately 4-hours. Testers should come prepared to take the entire battery of sections (Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading). There are NO fees for the OPT or GED study sessions or the actual GED exam.
Testing dates scheduled in Clay County are: September 11th, October 16th, November 20th and December 18th. These are all one day testing sessions. Potential test-takers are reminded that they may test at any official test center in West Virginia; however, in all cases the Official Practice Test must be passed prior to taking the GED test.
