New River Community and Technical College will offer a School Bus and Passenger Endorsement Commercial Driver’s License course, a Blueprint Reading for Welders, and an EMT course in Summersville.
For those with a CDL Class A license who plan to take the School Bus and Passenger Endorsement test, the course will cover operating procedures and training hours for the test. The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 19 and Dec. 20 at the WorkForce building, 830 Northside Drive in Summersville. The cost is $450. Please pre-register by Dec. 16. An Intermediate Blueprint Reading for Welders class will be held starting Jan. 12 for welders who want to advance their knowledge of the principles of welding symbols and blueprint reading. This six-week course will be held from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the WorkForce building on Northside Drive in Summersville. The cost is $150 per person. The Emergency Medical Technician Basic course will provide students with the ability to maintain high-quality patient care and recognize, assess, and manage medical emergencies of acutely ill or injured person in any pre-hospital setting. Students must be able to pass a Physical Exam, Current Immunizations, Drug and Background screenings. Graduates are able to complete the National Registry Certification Exam and the West Virginia EMT-B exam. Graduates are eligible to advance into the College’s four-semester Paramedic program.
The 16-week EMT course will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting Jan. 13. The cost of the course is $350, which includes the text book. Please pre-register by calling Gloria Kincaid at 304-793-6101.
