Lizemores, WV – Clem Osburn, 83, of Lizemores, went home Friday, October 16, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born June 7, 1932, in Bickmore, he was the son of the late Randolph Bib and Marilda Osborne. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Forrest, Vance and John, sisters, Ruth, Zela and baby girl Osborne.
Clem served his country in the U.S. Navy as storekeeper G second Class aboard the USS Surfbird and USS Condor, 1951 to 1955. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4419.
He worked as parts manager at the Clay Camper Company over its 13 year existence and ultimately retired from Elkem Metals, Alloy in 1994.
Clem is survived by his wife of 58 years, June of Lizemores; daughters, Vivian (Mack) Parsons of Belle, Robin (Kyle) Legg of Wallback; grandsons, Ike (Tiffany) Litton of Weston, Garin (Leslie) Osburn of Lizemores, Eli (Stephanie) Litton of Charleston and Zeke Legg of Wallback; great-grandchildren, Kain, Bex, Zoe, Knox and two more on the way, brothers, Homer (Ressa) of Bickmore; sisters, Ann Osborne of Clay and Mary Jones of Bickmore and many nieces and nephews.
He loved hunting, fishing, ginsenging and music. He received his 1st fiddle from his brother Forrest at an early age and taught himself to play. One of his favorite memories was his days as a founding member of a local band from his glory days “the Lonesome Polecats”. His music remained a comfort and a love throughout his life. Today he is fiddling in heaven.
The family wishes to express gratitude and many thanks to the hospice staff especially nurse Sonja, caregiver Amber, and family friend Vickie Vance Browne for her many visits and sing-a-longs that brightened dad’s day.
Funeral service was held 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay. Burial followed in the Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore. Pallbearers were Mack Parsons, Garin Osburn, Kyle Legg, Isaiah Litton, Eli Litton, Zeke Legg and Kain Osburn.
