Clay County Schools is implementing a new and innovative Attendance Campaign, and we are reaching out to our Clay County alumni to assist with this campaign. You may ask, “How can I help?” It is very simple to contribute to our campaign! We are asking Clay County graduates to share their success stories with us. As you know, Clay County is an area of high poverty, and many of our students are faced with countless obstacles, such as, drug abuse, physical abuse, neglect, poverty, etc. Yet, through perseverance, knowledge, and enthusiasm for learning they manage to achieve great things. Our students are resilient and determined. They “beat the odds” so to speak. The common denominator with these students, what they have in common, they attend school regularly. Successful students make a commitment to themselves to attend school, where they will nurture and foster the skills they need to succeed in higher education such as a career college or university. Regardless, of what obstacles you may be facing, the secret to success is school attendance.
If you are a graduate of Clay County High School, we would like to hear from you. Please share your story with us. If you decide to share your story, please email it to Pam Mullins phmullin@k12.wv.us. By sharing your story, you will motivate or inspire the youth of Clay County to make the decision to attend school and become the BEST they can be. Education is the first step on the path to success, the first step to overcoming obstacles, and route to a better life. Alumni, I believe each of you can make a difference in a child’s life so please help us to encourage students to Attend School Today and Achieve Great Things Tomorrow.
