This week the Eagles of Braxton County flew into town with the intent of leaving Clay
with a win. The Panthers, on the other hand, had their own ideas about the outcome. It was good
to see so many fans in attendance at the game. At the very beginning, the game seemed to
be all Braxton as they took their first possession into the end zone for a TD. However, undaunted, the Panther defense dug in and held their ground as did the defense of the Eagles. The Panther offense moved the ball, but couldn’t seem to get the key plays needed, and the game went back and forth with no one being able to move the ball in the direction of either end zone. Momentum went to whoever wanted it the most. It was not the referees that had control of the game this night. Early in the second quarter with a little over nine minutes left, lightning threw a flag and said game over. A storm moved in from the north east and shut the game down when the rain and thunder joined in the fray. They have reschedule the game for Monday night, and by the time this story hits the stands, the game will have been played. So, hopefully the Panthers will pull out a win against Braxton and take that winning streak farther against Ritchie County at home on Friday night.
