Gilmer County players and parents blew into town Saturday and took on the mighty intermediate league Panthers at Bradley Field. It was the tenth anniversary of the CCPIF league. It was not only a football day but also a celebration of just how far this league has progressed over the years. There have been many people over the years who have cared a great deal for this league and have seen it grow to what it is today. From coaches to parents to volunteers that have contributed many hours to the cause, we salute you. That being said, the CCPIF football players honored that cause by tromping Gilmer in a full sweep win. Gilmer brought in a full squad of players and went at it tooth and nail for guts and glory amid the cries of the fans and cheerleaders.
It was a sunny, hot day, a perfect day for football, perfect for a tenth anniversary celebration. The Panther C team came out sporting the original maroon uniforms from 10 years ago when the league started and rolled to a victory outscoring the Gilmer team 27-0. The Panther offensive line rolled over Gilmer opening holes big enough for a car to fit through, and the running backs definitely used them. The Panther B-Team also took down, make that wiped out, the tough Gilmer B team in a battle that could be termed a rout by the score of 44-13. They will definitely talk about this game over pizza. The A team was in a war with the A team of Gilmer as they battled each other like warriors with a final score of Clay 14, Gilmer 6. They are the future of this county, and it would do you good as football fans to come out and support them. These players are just as dedicated as a college team and want to win just as much. So, if you want to see football played with raw emotion, come to a CCPIF game where it is all or nothing.
