Psalm 68:3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. God is giving us, by His word, tremendous insight into living the life Jesus promised us in John 10:10 saying: “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
We have choices to make and those choices will determine our lives. We can look at the world situation and be discouraged. We can look at the political arena and be depressed. We can look at ourselves and should we find sickness, lack or unanswered questions we find ourselves less than with an attitude of rejoicing, praise or joyfulness. Those things are all around us but how do we escape their influence? It is by the Word of God. Hebrews12:2 tells us: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”. How does that help? Look at that verse again. Jesus was facing shame, pain, rejection and death. Still, because of what lay on down the road He saw the joy that was set before Him.
If you are truly a child of God, a genuine Christian, even though you may be challenged today and tempted tomorrow, look on down the road. One day you will be caught up to be with Jesus forever. Heaven is your home and you are just passing through here. If you are a child of God you have been promised life eternal and that without pain, sorrow, bills, temptations, sickness nor disease. You might have to endure some things along the way but your heart should be filled with joy because Nehemiah 8:10 tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. That joy is available but you must tap into it with faith and knowledge of the Word of God. God provides by His grace but you must receive it through your faith. Psalm 63 3-:7 says :
“Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. Your choice – your future – your life.
Maranatha!
