The recent flash-flooding that ravaged through the county has left many roads, properties and homes in shambles. Governor Tomblin issued a state of emergency which included Clay County and nine other counties. Since then, the West Virginia Department of Highways has worked around the clock to repair roads and bridges. Dump trucks galore have been seen passing through the county, one behind the other. These trucks are hauling rock from Fola Coal to various places in the county as the clean-up and repair throughout the county continues. Be on the lookout for flagmen, utility workers and repair crews as you drive through the area.
