More than 6,500 students attended the 2015 National Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, June 28 – July 2, 2015.
Clay Middle captured two top 10 finalist victories and one top 12 victory. Clay High captured two top 10 finalist victories, including one first place! This means 22 of 45 students finalized and made it onto the stage at the national level. This is an extraordinary feat for these students.
Middle and High school student members competed in more than 60 competitive events based on principles and concepts learned through projects during the school year in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects. The conference celebrated the contributions of advancing technology in our society with the theme “Designing Your Dreams.”
The Clay County Middle and Clay County High School TSA teams traveled to Dallas, Texas and made their presence known at the national competition level. Led by their advisors, Leslie Goe, Mason Hamrick, and Allen Tanner, 45 students and chaperones headed toward victory.
Each of the students worked many hours perfecting their projects. Students had to place first in their event at the state level to earn the honor of representing West Virginia at the national conference. Their hard work and dedication paid off.
Our outstanding Mustangs and Panthers made us very proud!
Winners were as follows:
Middle School Chapter Team 8th place – Caleb Atha, Nicholas Evans, Allison Jackson, Hunter Jones, Laikyn Samples, and Tailynn Varney
Middle School Leadership Strategies 9th place – Courtney Bevins, Sharina Ratliff, and Reagan Tanner
Middle School Construction Challenge Top 12 – Caleb Atha, Noah Atha, Nicholas Evans and Hunter Jones
High School Chapter Team 1st Place – Haley Jones, Reece Nichols, Ely Osborne, Ian Smith, Morgan Whiteley, and Zachary Wynn
High School System control 5th place – Logan Knopp, Alex Taylor, and Noah Taylor
High School Vex Semi-Finalist – Tyler Blake, John Ross Carroll, and Nate Schoolcraft
All of the advisors are very proud of these students for not only bringing home victory, but for their success in their behavior too. These students are carrying on a strong tradition set by TSA students over the past decade. A special thanks to Beth Cercone, Jim Cercone, Allen Goe, Jessica Ramsey, and Tara Tanner for their time and hard work helping students with projects and serving as chaperones. This success would not be possible without the support of the administration and the Clay County Board of Education. We thank you! If you see any of these outstanding students, congratulate them!
