The County Commission meeting on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 had some special guests attend. Senators Facemire and Romano came to present some grant money. The Senators presented the three Volunteer Fire Departments of the county with $11,250 to be split between the three, Lizemores Volunteer Fire Department, Clay Volunteer Fire Department and Big Otter Volunteer Fire Department. There were members from all three fire departments in attendance to accept the grant money from the Senators, Lizemores Volunteer Fire Department Chief Justin Elliott, Clay Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Scott and Big Otter Volunteer Fire Department member George Workman. Also, the County Commissioners presented the three fire departments with a tracking device to help track someone who may be lost. The tracking device has little transmitters that go onto a bracelet that can be placed on your wrist, your ankle or in your vehicle, etc. that can track the lost person. If someone has a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, Autism or some other type of medical condition, you can contact the County Commissioners or Greg Fitzwater to get a transmitter to place on the person. If that person would get lost or wonder off, you can contact your local fire department and they can help track down the missing loved one.
The Senators also presented the County Commissioners with a grant in the amount of $6,000 for the county park for the engineering and support for construction. A huge Thank you to Senators Mike Romano and Doug Facemire for the grants for the Fire Departments and for the County Park!
