Two mysterious barrels full of an unknown liquid appeared in the Bomont area Friday night, prompting the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Emergency Response Team to be dispatched to the scene early Saturday. Emergency Service Personnel arrived at the scene of the incident and located two metal barrels that had apparently been lost out of the back of a pickup truck. Uncertain what the barrels contained, emergency responder Greg Fitzwater contacted the DEP to properly dispose of the liquid as a precautionary measure. Once on scene, the DEP was able to identify the contents of the barrels as salt water that had been removed from a gas well location. Thankfully the contents were not hazardous and no one was injured as a result.
